Minutes for the WSWCD meeting held September 11, 2025, at t he Wakulla County Extension Office, 84 Cedar Avenue, Crawfordville, Fl 32327
The meeting was called to order by Vice Chairman David Shepard at 6:06 pm. Other members present were Kellie Keys, Emily Johnson and Cal Jamison. Guest was former FSU communcations intern.
The agenda was unanimously approved. Moved by Cal and seconded by Kellie.
The minutes for the July 10, 2025 meeting were approved unanimously. Moved by Kellie and seconded by Emily.
The Treasurer reported that we didn’t receive a statement this month. No recent activity.
There were no citizens to be heard.
Old Business:
LEEF donation: Kellie reported that Lori Nicholson will be stopping by the meeting to pick up our $1000 donation. She did stop by, but was feeling ill and didn’t come in. Kellie delivered the check to her at her car in the parking lot.
There was no new information on the Conservation Florida Event. Waiting for an update.
The Springs Seminar with Dr. Chris Werner and Chad Hanson at the Wakulla Environmental Institute has been confirmed for Saturday, September 14, 2025 at 10am-noon. Registration is required.
New Business:.
AFCD, Association of Florida Conservation Districts, membership dues is $500 per year. They are hosting five events this year, one of which is in Tallahassee January 13-15, 2026 at the Holiday Inn on Apalachee Parkway. The Annual Conference will be in Orlando June 6-11, 2026. Cal made a motion to pay the $500 dues and it was seconded by Kellie. Motion passed unanimously. Emily wrote the check during the meeting.
Cal reported that the Friends of WSSP continuing speaker series will feature Dr. Chris Werner on Thursday, October 2, 2025 at 6:30pm in the Lodge Terrace.
Springs Update: Cal reported that the conditions remain dark with a clearing trend possibly on the way as rainfall decreases. SpringsWatch was carried out on a regular tour boat as the pontoon boat is out of service. Lots of waterfowl and fish were noted. The stage gage is still over the 5’ level and the flow is still strong.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:10pm, moved by Kellie and seconded by Emily.

Springs Seminar: The Woodville Karst Plain by Dr Chris Werner at the Wakulla Environmental Institute this Saturday, September 14, 2025 from 10am-noon. Registration required.
New Business:
